The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him Lamentations 3:25 NKJV
Waiting on God is perhaps never more difficult than when we’re hoping and praying for that right person to come across our paths. Some say it is most difficult to wait for marriage when you are young and the hormones are raging. Older singles or “single again” people have an equally difficult challenge, because they see their years slipping away with perhaps no potential spouse on the horizon. They may face thoughts like, “Will I ever be able to enjoy sex in marriage?,” or “Will I be single all my life?” or “Has God forgotten me?”
The enemy is quick to tempt such people to give up on God and seek an outlet for sex or companionship through a one-night encounter, a prostitute, pornography, promiscuous relationships, phone sex or masturbation. Doing so may yield temporary pleasure, but it doesn’t help their situations. In fact it makes things worse because they then feel even more distant from God as the guilt of their sin weighs heavily on them.
No matter what your current situation, you can return to God through faith in Jesus. Jesus purchased your forgiveness on the cross and will strengthen you to wait on his provision for your needs and desires. Jesus knows your struggles. He lived for 33 years as a single man, and is well acquainted with the temptations and the loneliness you may be facing. He also knows how to help you connect with God during those times and realize that you are not alone. God wants to use you now in your current circumstances in a special way.

What is God’s promise to us when we seek first his kingdom and righteousness over our own needs and desires? (Matthew 6:25-34)
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, Thank you for dying for my sin. Please forgive me for the times when I have failed to wait on you and turned to sin as the answer. Specifically, I repent from my sin of __________________ (specify). I desire to seek first your kingdom and your righteousness with all my heart. Please lead me by your Holy Spirit on the path of righteousness and strengthen me to wait on you for all things. Thank you, Lord! In your name I pray, Amen.”
