“Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.” Philippians 1:19-20 NIV

The Apostle Paul was no stranger to trials and tribulations. He was constantly being attacked, and imprisoned, yet amazingly, he kept preaching Christ. The secrets to Paul’s strength were that he had other believers praying for him and he had the Holy Spirit living in him. Combining those two elements with Paul’s faith in God for help, it should be no surprise that he did amazing things for God.

Each of us through Christ has access to the same resources that Paul had. God is no respecter of persons, and will fulfill his promises to whoever places faith in Jesus. We can live a victorious life over evil and be fruitful for God’s kingdom. The Holy Spirit gives us the life and power to put to death every sinful desire we have (Romans 8:11,13).

For all of you struggling with porn out there, please know that we pray for you daily. We may not know your name, but God knows you and the Holy Spirit intercedes for you through our prayers. God is waiting for you to invite him to help you with your struggle. He knew long ago that you wouldn’t be able to win the battle on your own. That’s why he sent Jesus to die for your sins and purchase your peace with God. God is not angry with you! He loves you and desires to work in your life.

Questions for further thought:
In view of Paul example, why is it important to be connected with a group of committed Christians?
What kinds of tribulations did Paul face successfully? (2 Corinthians 11:23-30)
What was Paul’s chief aim for his body? (20)

Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I place my faith in you today. Please forgive me for resisting you and running from you. I accept your sacrifice on the cross for me. Thank you for dying for my sin! Please wash me of sin. Please fill me afresh with the Holy Spirit and guide me to a group of strong Christians who will pray for me and encourage me daily in purity. Thank you, Jesus, Amen.”
